The Contenders - Jes Grew Flexi
What started off as a one-off side project, in 2014, between two friends in Vathis Square, in downtown Athens, is now a 7 piece ska/soul/ rocksteady combo. A year later, amidst changes in their line-up, they recorded their first split record, Contenders kept on working on new material while 2017 found them with their final line-up, playing their first live shows. With many fresh ideas in their arsenal Contenders aim to blend in the sound of greats like Sam Cooke and Ottis Redding with a ska and rocksteady approach.
